50 Cards

Card BackFrom games of "President" on youth retreats to Bridge clubs meeting in the Church Hall, playing cards are often part of our social time in church. justgeneration.ca is proud to announce a new resource for young and old alike in our churches: 50 Cards!

As part of the 50th Anniversary of PWRDF, justgeneration.ca is developing a unique deck of playing cards. In addition to the suit and card value, each of the 54 cards in the deck will feature an individual who has been or is involved and inspirational within the field of global justice and development. In addition to a brief bio on the card, 50 Cards will be linked in to the justgeneration.ca website, where more detail can be found about each of the people portrayed on the cards.

The individuals will be categorized into the four suits, which will represent:

1) Current PWRDF Networks and Partners
2) Current Canadian/International Justice Figures
3) Past Canadian/Internationals Justice Figures
4) Current Youth Heros

Some famous people who might become cards include:

- Mother Teresa
- Desmond Tutu
- Nelson Mandela
- Ted Scott
- Tommy Douglas
- Oscar Romero
- Romeo Dallaire
- Rosa Parks
- Martin Luther King Jr.
- Jimmy Carter
- Bono
- Mahatma Gandhi
- John Lennon
- Robert Kennedy

justgeneration.ca is hoping that you can help us with designing the 50 Cards. We would like you to submit to us the names of Canadian young people who are involved in justice work and who you feel are inspirational leaders in the field! Please send them to Simon Chambers with the name of the person, and why you feel they would make a good card. Please also include contact information (e-mail or phone) for the person so that justgeneration.ca can be in touch with them for permission to include their photos on the cards. The deadline for submitting names is October 21, 2009.

The 50 Cards should be ready for launch in June, 2010 at General Synod, and will be available for sale later in 2010.
